1)
Can you tell us a little about your book?
'Anjali' is an unconventional love story. It talks about love between two people. It's a short read.
2)
Is there a specific event that inspired this story, or was this an out-of-the-blue idea?
There was neither any specific event that inspired me to portray this story nor an out-of-the-blue idea. The thread developed from so many people's real-life experiences and emotions. Of Course, the story is not from anyone's life.
3)
What got you writing in the first place?
It's my passion. It gives me immense pleasure to write down emotions, feelings, events, fantasies, etc.
4)
What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?
It's good. Still, it is a bit beyond the conventional love story. I even had an acceptance fear.
5)
Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?
The inner thoughts of the hero of the book. Me, being a woman, has only a vague idea about how a man will react to his inner self on the most intimate emotions. While writing down those parts, I felt such deep emotions inside me, and I wrote all those scenes by experiencing such feelings inside myself.
6)
What makes your book the one to read?
The story. Then the name of both hero and heroine, everyone would have had such an experience of emotions at least once in their lifetime. I'm sure you will be able to see yourself or relate to yourself at least once before you finish your reading.
7)
What was the best advice you got while writing?
Do what gives you happiness. If writing gives you pleasure, do that for yourself.
8)
Who's your all-time favorite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?
Kamala Das alias Madhavi kutty. Her book "My story" made me fall in love with her. The courage she has got in writing down and how beautifully she mixes reality with fantasy. You can never differentiate reality and fantasy in her writings. She leaves it to the audience to decide the same. It's so marvelous.
9)
What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?
Be real. Whatever you want to say, make it real.
10)
Do you have another plot brewing?
Yes. I am working on a fiction novel inspired by Ramayana
