Author Interview- Pratik Sharad Shah

1)

Can you tell us a little about your book?

Luv Passion & Karma is a story of every next-door young lad who is hitting puberty and is set to take on the real-life challenges of this brutal world. But then the reality is not what we think it would be when we were in our early 20's. It is a bumpy journey of Rivaan. An ordinary boy from a middle-class family, who always dreamt big in life. Society mocked him by saying that you are one mystery. But then read along to find out how this mystery, one day made history. This is not a story, it is a dream come true which most of us only dream.

2)

Is there a specific event that inspired this story or was this an out-of-the-blue idea?

It was a purely out-of-the-blue idea. We have heard and read hundreds and hundreds of inspirational stories. But not all of it is in-depth. And even though if it is in-depth, the instances that occurred in their life at that time, it is next to impossible that it can replicate in today's date. Thus we tend to leave the book or the video halfway. Real-life stories of people who are in their early 50's and 60's right now, do not excite us as much as a story of someone who is in their early 20'S or early 30's.

3)

What got you writing in the first place?

I got divorced, I had lost my job, Covid 19 Pandemic had hampered everyone and everything. I was not getting a job anywhere else. And I had to get out of this mental trauma. Thus all I had was alcohol, my laptop, and my imagination. That was when I started writing unaware of the outcome, I just kept on writing and the result is in front of you.

4)

What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?

Usually, when an author writes a book, he will have everything in place. The plot, summary, the outline, the characters, the title, and so on. In this book, I had nothing in place. As and when I started writing and proceeded, the jigsaw puzzle fell in place, and after reading the first draft, I modified it 7 times and after the final book was ready, I got the title Luv Passion and Karma.

5)

Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?

The struggles that Rivaan faced in his life. When no one was with him, it was his friend DJ and in reality, also, I have friends by my side like pillars. Friends are the ones who understand you better than parents do. And that was the case with me and Rivaan. This connection is a knock-out combination.

6)

What makes your book the one to read?

It will take you on a compelling journey and you will connect with it instantly. The story is gripping, it is relatable, it has an element of unbreakable friendship and there are thrilling moments as well. Moreover, there is love, sadness, and sharp dialogues. To sum it up all in a one-liner, it is a very absorbing story.

7)

What was the best advice you got while writing?

I shared the first chapter of the manuscript with a friend of mine Nishi. We passed out from school in 2003 and this is 2021. Almost 18 years and after reading it, she was hooked to it completely. It took her down the memory lane. The most simplest and beautiful way it is described is what she said.

8)

Who’s your all-time favorite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?

It has to be The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall.

9)

What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?

Stay focused, as writing is not easy. Ideas are easy, but the way you describe them matters. Don't give up easily. Keep it simple and relatable. Because that is what will connect.

10)

Do you have another plot brewing?

I am almost halfway there but let that be a surprise.
